Music and Stories Come Alive at Palmerston Library

Darwin Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Program celebrated the end of Term Two with a magical morning of music and storytelling at the City of Palmerston Library last Saturday.

The Young Artist Ensemble brought children's picture books to life through a creative mix of original compositions and live classical themes. A captivated crowd of local families enjoyed spirited performance excerpts from Carnival of the Animals, Royal March of the Lion and the Elephant, and Pirates of the Caribbean. A particular highlight was a new work composed by the YAP students themselves, performed alongside a reading of ‘The River’ written by Sally Morgan and Johnny Warrkatja Malibirr. This unique, collaborative event beautifully highlighted the imagination and hard work of our local young artists, leaving the community inspired by the power of combined literacy and music.

Thanks to City of Palmerston Library, Magabala Books and CBCA NT for supporting this project.
