2026 is another packed year of community and education performances, collaborations and workshops across the Territory.
In April we take our acclaimed Choose Your Own Adventure education program on the road touring to Barkly and Central Australia. Poet and storyteller Melanie Mununggurr and composer Simon Bruckard team up to bring this rollicking adventure to life, performed by a daring ensemble of DSO musicians.
In October, explore the connection between music, sport and well-being in Score! We’re swapping out our concert shoes for sneakers and hitting the gym as we invite young people to participate in an interactive exploration of music, movement and meditation.
Also in October, the full orchestra returns to Palmerston, with Palmerston Classics and Palmerston Family Proms. Join us for two days of beautiful music and fun for the family. Our year-round Young Artists Program continues, offering exciting musical experiences and orchestral training for young musicians. In 2026 we are expanding this opportunity to include students from year 5 to year 12 and are creating a mentor trainee program for our senior YAP students.
Through our music workshops and community initiatives DSO continues to grow our connections with schools and communities across the territory. 2026 sees us collaborate and deliver music workshops to schools and communities in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, as well as the Vic Daly, Barkly and Central Australia Regions.
